Austin Mitchell has been the MP for Great Grimsby since 1983 but has announced his intention to stand down in 2015. He previously represented the now-defunct constituency of Grimsby from 1977 until its dissolution in 1983. He has served as a member of both the Public Accounts Committee and Public Accounts Commission since 2010. Mitchell has previously served as an Opposition Whip (1979-85), Chair of the Treasury & Civil Service Sub-Committee (1983-87) and the Shadow Trade and Industry Spokesperson (1988-89).

Melanie Onn is a 35 year-old trade union organiser. Ms Onn is a mother of one and works for public sector union Unison as a regional organiser. She originally hails from Grimsby.

 

Victoria Ayling

Victoria Ayling defected to UKIP after running for the Conservative Party in the seat in the 2010 General Election. Mrs Ayling is a councillor on East Lindsey District Council and Lincolnshire County Council.

Marc Jones, Conservative

Marc Jones was elected in 2013 is a Lincolnshire County Councillor as well as Chairman of Lincoln Conservative Association. Jones is currently serving as the Lincolnshire County Councils Executive member for Finance and as a governor at two of his local schools, one of which is for children with behavioural challenges.
